Job Overview

The Practice Nurse RN is responsible for organizing and administering individualized age-specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care. Provides care in outpatient/hospital settings including but not limited to High-Risk and NICU follow-up clinics and the Pediatric Health Center(s), and Pediatric Services. Involves the identification of follow-up patients, meetings with the family to review program, appointment setting, weekly clinic set up and completion of tasks, evaluation summary letters to private pediatrician.

Coordinates care for infants/children and prepares reports that are performed as baseline and/or for diagnostic purposes. Organize and administer individualized age-specific professional care to patients within an outpatient/hospital setting in support of medical care. Supports the philosophy, objectives and the mission and vision of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. Practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, JCAHO requirements and other regulatory agencies.

Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in Unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Prior experience should be in pediatrics or outpatient ambulatory roles in primary care
  • Experience can be in a hospital, clinic or office setting
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation
  • Completion of all Orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Certifications and Licenses Required
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of NJ
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • NRP certification
  • PALS certification
Scheduling Requirements
  • FT
  • Day shift
  • Monday-Friday
  • No weekends or holidays
  • 37.5 hours weekly
  • 9am–5pm
  • Position is fully onsite
