Job Overview: Ensures that quality age-appropriate nursing care is delivered to all patients in his/her nursing unit in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital. Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education. Evaluates staff performance in accordance with organizational policies. Develops, implements and maintains a unit budget. Participates in nursing quality assurance.

Maintains unit administration, including scheduling and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care. Insures that Same Day Surgery is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
  • Preferred Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or currently matriculating
  • Current New Jersey RN License
  • At least 2 years acute care nursing experience or 2 years acute care nursing experience with preview management experience
  • BLS Health Care provider
  • Additional certifications may be required as per the Administrative Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Shift Requirements:
  • Full Time, 37.5 hours
  • Monday through Friday
  • 12p-8p with weekend on call shifts
Essential Functions:
  • Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services
  • Assists the staff with development / implementation of nursing process (i.e, admission assessment, discharge plans and patient teaching)
  • Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to the individual associates competence and patient care needs
  • Demonstrates a fiscal responsibility in managing resources, staff and supplies
  • Follows established guidelines for staffing & scheduling policies, as related to daily staffing, OT, budgetary justification
