Full Time (Salaried) – Day Shift. 40 hours per week with weekend, evening, night, and holiday coverage.

Pay Range: $125,000 – $195,000 per year (depending on qualifications).

Director of Cardiac APPs, Northern Department of Cardiac Surgery;
Chief of Cardiology;
Vice President Heart and Vascular Services.

Position Summary

Cooperman Barnabas is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider to join the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) team. The APP will manage critically ill cardiac patients in a 10‑bed specialized unit, working under the supervision of the CCU intensivist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform history and physicals, comprehensive assessments and manage the care of critically ill cardiac patients in the CCU.
  • Develop and implement evidence‑based treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage acute and chronic cardiac conditions including ACS, heart failure, arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock, post‑operative recovery, and mechanical circulatory support devices.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, medications, and perform advanced procedures within scope of practice and institutional protocols.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Participate in daily CCU rounds and assist with rapid response and code situations.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and team members, providing education and support.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of clinical encounters, progress notes, orders, and care plans in the EMR, including procedural and time‑based evaluation/management codes.
  • Contribute to unit‑based quality improvement initiatives and clinical research.
  • Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing (NP) or Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
  • Active license and board certification in New Jersey (NP: ACNP or FNP; PA‑C).
  • Active DEA and CDS registration.
  • ACLS and BLS certification.
  • Experience in critical care or cardiac ICU (new graduates welcome).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.
