Job TitleRegistered Nurse – NICU-Based Float Pool
LocationLivingston, NJ | Acute Care
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–08:00) | Expected 37.5 hours/week | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a Level III NICU setting with floating responsibilities to PICU, Pediatrics, and Newborn Nursery as required; floating is mandatory without exception
- Perform and manage IV therapy including A-line management, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, UAC/UVC, IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
- Monitor and manage cardiac and respiratory status including dysrhythmia interpretation and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
- Support GI and neurological care including bottle, breast, and gavage feedings; placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes; and care for patients with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Document all patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Provide on-call or worked coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) as determined by unit needs
- Active New Jersey RN license or valid Compact RN license required at time of submission
- BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience; documented NICU Level III and PICU experience must be reflected in employment history
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
- Must be available every other weekend
- Local candidates are welcome and accepted
- Experience floating across pediatric service lines including PICU, general Pediatrics, and Newborn Nursery
- Familiarity with high-acuity neonatal populations including premature and critically ill newborns
- Experience in a Regional Perinatal Center or large teaching hospital environment
- Opportunity to work within a high-volume, Level III NICU at a major regional perinatal center caring for more than 1,200 premature and ill newborns annually
- Gain broad pediatric critical care experience through a structured float pool model with assignments matched to your skill set
