- With minimum direction, develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Performs analysis and workforce utilization planning, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
- May confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Supports management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Designs tooling, fixtures, product/part, machines.
- Develops and recommends plans for productivity and efficiency improvements and performs manufacturing cost estimating and feasibility studies.
- Assists in establishing advanced quality engineering standards and procedures and submits as required by customer needs.
- Has responsibility and authority to prevent all environmental and safety nonconformities and stop any nonconforming operations until corrective action has been completed.
Four year engineering degree level of knowledge with a minimum of 4 years related experience in metal fabrication, machining and forming preferred. Specialized training in computer skills, time management and cohesive team building. Working knowledge of J.I.T. manufacturing, cell‑rigorised manufacturing, FMEA, process flow diagram, ANSI Y‑14.5, Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing, tube bending and brazing. High mechanical aptitude and problem solving.
