Responsibilities- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods with minimum direction, using knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Perform analysis and workforce utilization planning, space requirements, workflow and design equipment and workspace layout for maximum efficiency.
- Consult with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications, arrange purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Support management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Design tooling, fixtures, product/part machines.
- Develop and recommend plans for productivity and efficiency improvements and perform manufacturing cost estimating and feasibility studies.
- Assist in establishing advanced quality engineering standards and procedures and submit as required by customer needs.
- Prevent all environmental and safety nonconformities, stopping any nonconforming operations until corrective action has been completed.
Four‑year engineering degree and a minimum of four years of related experience in metal fabrication, machining and forming preferred. Specialized training in computer skills, time management and cohesive team building. Working knowledge of JIT manufacturing, cell‑manufacturing, FMEA, process flow diagram, ANSI Y‑14.5, Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing, tube bending and brazing. High mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
