Purpose:
Under moderate supervision, respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and the public; provide requested information and/or referral to the appropriate parties; direct visitors; assist in the efficient operation of the communication department; and assist in communications on the website, social media, and other platforms.
Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Effective public relations, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills;
Ability to speak, read, and understand English;
Ability to read and comprehend instructions;
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations;
Proficient in Google Suite;
Proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenance.
Experience: 3 years of clerical experience in an office setting
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Process purchase orders and travel forms and maintain the budget for the department.
- Update website announcements, fliers, and other information as directed.
- Ensure that Scholastic Network is updated and working correctly on all campuses.
- Review and process volunteer applications, ensuring all required information is included.
- Check for alignment of the public calendar, school website calendar, and app calendar.
- Plan the advertising calendar three weeks in advance.
- Create images, schedule posts in the social media management system, and update the editorial calendar.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Demands / EquipmentTools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer; multi-line phone system, copier
Posture: Continuous sitting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, including reaching. Frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse.
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Office area near the Communications Department in the administrative/central office
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
