Job DescriptionJob Title: Meter Technician
Department: Engineering and Electronics
Reports To: Technology Supervisor
SUMMARYJob requirements will include, but not limited to building, testing, and installing industrial, commercial, and residential metering applications. Create and maintain reports manually and electronically. Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner. Use electrical testing and calibration equipment.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIESFamiliar with industry standards for safe work procedures, including NESC, NFPA 70E, and proper utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, testing, and calibrating all types of electrical energy metering and related equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
Ability to work on hot secondary up to 600V unsupervised.
Using the Tantalus AMI system to troubleshoot meter issues.
Effectively communicate with others with good written, verbal and listening skills.
Willingness to work with others, learning and teaching new skills and abilities.
Some overnight travel may be expected.
Must work major/all inclement weather events.

QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEFive years minimum of increasingly responsible experience with an electric utility and three years of meter background is preferred. Entry level and pay scale will depend on level of experience.
COMPUTER SKILLSTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong proficiency with computers, including Windows operating system and Microsoft Office products.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSUpon acceptance of job applicant will be required to complete NWL College Meter Technician Certification Courses and attend SWEMA training. Must have a valid driver's license and pass Drug Screening.
