POSITION
Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified vocational assistant who will be able to support the academic-focused instruction and assist students with special needs/disabilities as defined by the Carl Perkins Grant in the Automotive Technology classes. This person will work collaboratively with the teachers supporting students as they obtain practical skills in the areas of Automotive Technology. This person will assist the teachers with various assignments, facilitate student learning, and supervise students throughout the classroom and lab areas.

Minimum Qualifications- Applicants must have at least a high school diploma or GED; an associate's degree or greater is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in automotive-related fields is preferred.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new technology.
- Applicants should have experience in working with high‑school age students.

- Evidence of ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Supervise students to ensure a school climate in accordance with the District Vision and Collective Commitments.
- Assist the instructor during all phases of instruction.
- Reinforce instruction to students by administering remedial activities and demonstrations for individual or small groups.
- Monitor students during practical activities to ensure they are working safely and following correct procedures.
- Assist instructor in maintaining student records.
- Maintain accurate student records in the progress of the students.
- Assist instructor with inventory, ordering, and accounting procedures.
- Encourage students to think independently and express original ideas.
- Perform other functions as assigned by supervisor.
