QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education certification
Must meet all requirements per rule 340.1749 of the Michigan State Board of Education
Must be CPI trained or willing to be CPI trained within 30 days of hire date.
Experience in supporting subject area content
Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Individualized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with various areas of eligibility and varying needs.
Utilize evidence-based practices to facilitate student success
Accommodate the general education curriculum for to allow student access, based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies
Actively participate in the co-teaching service delivery model
Demonstrate consistent, effective management of student behavior
Manage a safe, comfortable learning environment
Provide appropriate physical intervention to ensure the safety and provision of personal care to the students
Comply with state and federal special education regulations
Prepare for, participate and provide leadership in the IEP Process
Provide direction and support to classroom paraprofessionals
Maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents, administrators, paraprofessionals, school personnel, and community representatives
Inform supervisor of student's progress
Inform the supervisor of program concerns
Maintain accurate and complete student records
Coordinate and conduct effective parent conferences
Demonstrate professional conduct and exhibit professional growth
