Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified elementary classroom teacher who will be able to develop and sustain academic-focused instruction for his/her students in the elementary grades. The teacher will identify and implement best practices in instruction and student achievement.

Niji-Iro provides a unique educational opportunity which includes a two-way immersion program for both Japanese and American students. The mission of the school is to provide students the opportunity to be immersed in a second language, while learning from each other. The students will become bilingual, respectful and globally-minded individuals.

Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately 13,100 students pre-K post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center and 1 vocational and transition center in the School District. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $180 million, with a state funding of $10,000 per pupil.

Minimum qualifications include a minimum of a bachelor's degree in the area of Elementary Education, a valid elementary Michigan Teaching Certificate, a passionate commitment to improving learning for all students, demonstrated positive interpersonal relationships, evidence of ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders, and superior verbal and written communication skills.

Major functions and responsibilities include exhibiting a commitment to the District's Shared Vision and Collective Commitments, creating a welcoming and positive classroom climate and culture, teaching ELA (reading, writing, listening, speaking) social studies, mathematics, science, and life and learning skills to students in a classroom, using the state curriculum, further developed into Livonia Public Schools Priority Standards, adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities, developing lesson plans and instructional materials and providing individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student, translating lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction, exhibiting an understanding of literacy development for elementary students and articulating and utilizing research based instructional strategies and methods appropriate for various grade levels,…
