Elementary English Classroom Teacher - Niji-Iro Japanese Immersion School

POSITION

Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified elementary classroom teacher who will develop and sustain academic‑focused instruction for students in the elementary grades. The teacher will identify and implement best practices in instruction and student achievement.

Niji‑Iro Japanese Immersion School provides a two‑way immersion program for Japanese and American students. The mission is to immerse students in a second language while learning from each other, becoming bilingual, respectful and globally‑minded individuals.

Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members serving about 13,100 students pre‑K to post secondary. The district has 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, and others. The annual budget is $180 million, with state funding of $10,000 per pupil.

The teacher will create an engaging, welcoming, and safe classroom environment that stimulates learning, growth, and development. The teacher will motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide the primary foundation for future education. The teacher will establish positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
• Valid elementary Michigan Teaching Certificate.

• Apply literacy development understanding; use research‑based instructional strategies appropriate for grade levels.
• Maintain student behavior standards for effective learning environment.
• Evaluate student growth; maintain records; prepare report cards and documentation.
• Integrate school improvement goals into classroom.
• Maintain student classroom records using district technology.
• Communicate with parents via conferences and other means to discuss curriculum, assessments, progress.
• Identify student needs; collaborate with staff to address social, emotional, academic issues.
• Create effective learning environment through displays, materials, bulletin boards, websites.
• Maintain professional competence through in‑service education and self‑selected professional growth activities.
• Use age and content appropriate aids; maintain inventory records.
• Supervise students throughout workday.

The work year, salary, and fringe benefits will be consistent with the current agreement between the Board of Education and the Livonia Education Association. The position will remain open through July 8 2026 for consideration of employment for the 26‑27 school year.
