Position: Lower Elementary Teacher (K-2)

LOCATION: Grandview or Botsford Elementary School

SCHEDULE:  School Year

SALARY: Per the CEA Master Agreement

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education/Certification

  • Valid Michigan elementary teaching certificate
  • ZA or ZO Endorsement is preferred

Preferred

  • Understanding of the unique developmental, physical and social needs of young children.
  • Committed to student achievement and school success.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents and staff.
  • Willingness to try and share new ideas, techniques and strategies.
  • Strong communication, technology and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with and supporting a diverse learning community, including English Language Learners and Special Education students and families.
  • Knowledge of data management and use to inform instruction.
  • Experience with Illustrative Math and AVMR
  • Experience implementing Heggerty, UFLI, Reader's and Writer's Workshop, Science of Reading and LETRS Trained
  • Understanding of Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI)
  • Understanding of New Pedagogies of Deep Learning (NPDL), 6 C's, Project-Based Learning (PBL),and RULER
  • Strong knowledge of the MTSS Model
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Provide an educational program that meets the educational needs of each student in the teacher's area of responsibility.
  • Provide instruction consistent with District and school expectations and which meets the educational needs of all students assigned to the teacher.
  • Communicate with students, parents, administrators and other staff members in a manner which is consistent with District and school expectations.
  • Maintain student records, organize resources and foster a learning environment which are consistent with District and school expectations, while maximizing student learning.
  • Manage time, equipment, and materials efficiently and maintain a physical environment that is well-organized, safe and student focused.
  • Plan, prepare and implement instruction and assessment used to measure student growth.
  • Honor and carry out the District initiatives and goals.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Be a contributing member to a Professional Learning Community (PLC).
  • Communicate student progress and development with parents and staff.
  • Demonstrate creative and innovative lesson plans that contribute to a highly engaged learning community.
  • Create a caring and nurturing learning atmosphere that allows for emotional and social growth in young children.
