On-Call Academic Advisor (Applicant Pool)
The On-Call Academic Advisor uses the Proactive Academic Advising model to build relationships with students to increase student persistence, retention, certificate/degree completion and successful transfer. Student populations include new students, current students, those on academic probation, those referred from disability support, and those in high school/dual enrolled, who may be referred from admissions.

Responsibilities- Assists students in interpreting assessment results and high school transcripts with regard to course selection.
- Serves as a student advocate and mentor, acting as liaison among students, faculty, college departments, and community resources.
- Aids students in understanding graduation requirements, keeps current on related policy changes, and assists students with unofficial degree audits.
- Creates academic and transfer plans using Student Planning and updates when needed. Tracks the academic progress for all assigned students through the Student Planning tool and performs outreach to students minimally twice per fall and winter terms and minimally once per spring and summer terms.
- Uses technology to support student success, such as Colleague, Student Planning, Advise (Early Alert) Feith, SARS, and email.
- Assists with new student orientations as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field.
- General knowledge of community college programs and transfer requirements.
- Demonstrated organization and communication skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule.
- Master’s degree in education, academic advising, higher education leadership, student affairs, or comparable.
- Academic advising in a community college or four-year setting.
- Writing
Skills:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. - Language
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. - Communication
Skills:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. - Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. - Physical Demands:

This role may involve being in a stationary position in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse or applicable equipment and telephone. Communicating and exchanging information with individuals electronically or in person. This role may also involve standing and walking for periods of time, and the use of hands and moving objects on occasion, of up to 10 lbs. - Noise Level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Up to 25 hours/week;
Flexible Schedule desired.
$21.50/hour
