POSITION:
Science Teacher (6-12)

LOCATION:

REESE PUBLIC SCHOOLS– MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL

Assignment/Responsibility:The Science Teacher will deliver a comprehensive science education program to middle/high school students. The teacher will address the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students while preparing them for careers and post-secondary opportunities in science and related industries. The goal is to develop students into skilled, responsible, and contributing members of the community.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate in secondary education and meet the highly qualified requirements for the specific content area
  • Certifications include Integrated Science (DI), General Science (DX) or Chemistry (DC).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of science education program components (classroom/lab)
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
  • Able to efficiently use technology for instruction, assessment and/or demonstration
  • Plan and implement programs and events to support and promote Agriscience issues
  • Leadership and involvement in FFA programs and events preferred
  • Train students for participation in local, regional, state and national contests
  • Work successfully as a contributing member of the Agriscience community
  • Monitor student progress, using assessments to guide instruction and making adjustments as necessary to assure student success
  • Support and relate positively to high school level students; maintaining respectful, appropriate relationships
  • Communicate and work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
  • Effectively instruct students in the required curriculum and assessments
  • Design and plan instructional lessons that are aligned to State Content Expectations and the District’s Curriculum
  • Differentiate instruction and assessment as required for diverse learners
  • Reflect on teaching practices and actively participate in professional development and keeping informed of current trends/topics and practices in general, in education, and specifically in the teacher’s content area
  • Maintain appropriate and timely student records
  • Successfully implement clearly understood and effective classroom management practices
  • Maintain an appropriate, productive, inclusive and efficient learning environment
  • Implement building/district improvement plans within instructional, planning and assessment practices
  • Effectively utilize technology to enhance instruction

Education And/Or

Experience:

  • Successful completion of student teaching
  • Additional experiences with middle/high school aged students (coaching, clubs, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Middle/High School curriculum standards
  • Knowledge of the diverse needs of adolescent learners

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Meet Highly Qualified Requirements
