Job Summary: Classroom Instructor

The position involves teaching physical education to students, applying advanced language and communication skills, conducting assessments, facilitating classroom management, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Responsibilities include interpreting complex documents, responding to sensitive inquiries, writing speeches and articles, delivering persuasive presentations, applying mathematical concepts in practical teaching, and using logical reasoning to solve diverse problems.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents; respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints; write speeches and articles using innovative techniques or style; make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of trustees.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases; handle a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel; talk or hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. May occasionally lift up to 10 lbs., seldom 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

May occasionally work near moving mechanical parts or in a laboratory. Must follow all safety rules and regulations, operate appropriate laboratory equipment, and tolerate the presence of laboratory chemicals. Noise level is usually moderate.

Per Faculty Contract

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health, Exercise Science or related area.

• OR AS or two-year degree in physical education, health fitness or related field AND
• 5 years of relevant fitness or physical education experience.

• Two (2) years college level teaching experience.
