Supervision and Collaboration
Paraprofessionals work under the direct supervision of certified staff, including:

  • The classroom teacher and professional support staff who provide instructional direction and daily task assignments, including the schedule for the paraprofessional to follow each day.
  • The building principal, who oversees general building operations, ensures paraprofessionals deliver appropriate support per IEP and classroom teacher direction, and evaluates paraprofessionals’ professional abilities and conduct.
  • The special education administrators who ensure that paraprofessional supports align with IEP goals, district policies, and legal compliance.
