In this position...
We are looking for engineers to specifically work on wire harnesses and transmission component design, development and validation for current production and next generation production. The engineer will work to develop and validate hardware in vehicle as part of product development and ongoing production. The engineer will also work closely with vehicles in the field, assembly plants, and suppliers to root cause analysis.
In addition, the engineer will lead competitive benchmarking for wire harnesses and other electrical hardware.
Our diverse transmission components team – situated in Livonia Michigan – is comprised of product strategists, researchers, hardware designers, test and calibration engineers, prototypes and project managers. Together our team works to understand our changing world, identify new opportunities, and take action to design and innovate for the future of mobility and sustainability.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you’ll do…
- Develop wire harnesses to meet vehicle level cascaded requirements
- Collaborate with vehicle and system engineering groups to optimize and deliver system hardware solutions
- Lead delivery and documentation of all development milestones for transmission systems and components
- Manage wire harness timing to ensure on time and quality delivery to all vehicle builds
- Coordinate design verification testing for wire harness components and ensure all results are documented
- Coordinate with suppliers to understand root cause analysis with ongoing production
- Coordinate with transmission plants to understand ongoing production related questions
- Develop and maintain main control system level quality documents including boundary diagrams, p-diagrams, DFMEA
- Support system level competitive benchmarking and reports
- Integrate lessons learned from previous programs
You'll have...
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or related field
- 2+ years in Automotive design preferably with wire harnesses
- Good academic knowledge of electrical systems
Excellent teamwork and communication skills - Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and multiple vehicle platforms
- Be curious and ask questions
Work Requirements:
- Present in office 4 days per week
- Ability to tear down components that have come back from the field
- Ability to travel to suppliers for plant visits as well as GEMBA style events
- 2+ years in transmission component design preferably with wire harnesses
