Overview

GZA Geo Environmental, Inc. is seeking an Early Career Environmental Engineer/Scientist in our Livonia, MI office. The successful candidate will have a solid educational background with 2 to 5 years of experience, be self-motivated with a professional attitude, and join a team working on site investigation, evaluation of remedial alternatives, design, and remediation system operation and maintenance. The candidate will work under the supervision of project managers and/or principals.

Between field projects, responsibilities include preparing field documentation, data analysis, and reporting.

Key Duties
  • Perform outdoor, all-season field tasks such as drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sampling, soil vapor sampling, remediation system implementation, operation and maintenance, construction oversight, monitoring, and related activities.
  • Work on all phases of projects (due diligence, site investigation, data evaluation, system design, engineering analysis, remedial system construction oversight, operation and maintenance).
  • Monitor and document various aspects of investigation and remediation projects.
  • Conduct technical analyses and calculations.
  • Analyze and interpret site-specific data.
  • Draft field and engineering reports.
  • Collaborate across teams as needed due to a One Company environment; may be asked to assist on projects outside primary responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field required (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in site investigation or remediation is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform field tasks and activities.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally; valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Strong Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Database and/or ArcGIS skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations is a plus.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPR certification and EIT a plus.
