We are looking for a Powertrain Calibration Intern to join our powertrain calibration and integration team for the summer of 2026. The Intern will work within a small team of engineers and be challenged to calibrate, test, and integrate gasoline and diesel powertrain packages on dynamo meters and in vehicles. The Intern will also support testing and validation of many powertrain components.
This position is a paid internship located in Allen Park and Livonia, MI. Candidates must be available for summer 2026.
- Aiding in dynamometer and vehicle-based calibration and integration for Internal Combustion Engines (ICE)
- Supporting vehicle testing including drivability, emissions, and durability
- Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting test data
- Supporting hot, cold, and high-altitude development testing
- Assisting in test bench and control system development
- Supporting prototype wiring harness design and manufacturing
- Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or automotive engineering
- Must be available for the summer of 2026 (May through August)
- Must be able to work a 40+ hour work week M-F
- Must have specific hands‑on internal combustion engine experience
- Strong Excel and MATLAB/Simulink (or similar) experience
- Ability to read and interpret various programming languages (Python, C, MATLAB, VBA, etc.)
- Must have a minimum sophomore standing
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Willingness to travel and/or work overtime upon request
- Previous experience with engine dynamometer testing
- Experience with CAN bus (or similar) protocol and communication
- Formula SAE/Baja or other automotive competition experience
