The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a broad role that requires working on a variety of engineering programs and projects. The role works on projects for large and small customers to meet the customers timelines. The Senior Mechanical Engineer works in a team environment to understand each customer’s unique needs and mentors and oversees team member’s technical deliverables to ensure both Roush standards and customer requirements are met.

Projects range from EV quadricycle design & development, root cause analysis for durability testing, test support, concept development for new vehicle platforms

Job Responsibilities:
  • Working knowledge of the product development process
  • Working in a fast paced engineering environment, self-starter/proactive, ability to multi-task
  • Working experience of 3D design (CAD), packaging, validation and release of mechanical components and systems
  • Experience performing digital packaging assessments and compatibility checks.
  • Functional proficiency with CAD packages like Solid Works, Siemens NX, CATIA, or similar
  • Working knowledge of DFA (Design for Assembly), DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFS (Design for Serviceability)
  • Working knowledge of DFMEAs, failure root cause analysis, 8

    Ds and development and execution of DVPs
  • Working experience in test procedures development, creation and execution of test plans, external test house coordination
  • Prototype vehicle build coordination and management of test and evaluation vehicles
  • Experience working in a hands‑on/cross functional environment (Ex. Formula SAE, SAE Baja etc.)
  • Working experience with test data collection and data post processing to create meaningful test reports and conclusions
  • Working experience in BOMs
Key Must Have’s:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 4+ years of engineering work experience.
  • Functional proficiency to 3D model and draft in Solid Works.
  • Working Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), Simulation and Finite Element Analysis in Solid Works or other computer applications.
  • Capable of planning, estimating, scheduling, and coordinating technical aspects of projects.
  • Working Knowledge, understanding and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Knowledge in the development and execution of Design Validation Plans (DVPs) to demonstrate functionality and mitigate risk of premature failure.
  • Ability to mentor others on best practices of design and engineering principles.
  • Manufacturing experience including machining, metal forming, code welding and composites.
  • Experience in interpretation and application of ASTM-F24 standards.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting and root cause problem solving experience.
