Senior Controls Project Manager – Greater Detroit Area

Trane Technologies is hiring a Senior Controls Project Manager responsible for project financials, administration, implementation, management, and customer satisfaction in the Commercial HVAC Controls / Building Automation space.

Key responsibilities include engaging with customers and collaborating across teams to deliver complex, multi‑building controls projects.

• Support sales functions by assisting with quote preparation and proposals.
• Manage change orders by recommending solutions, facilitating quotes, and closing orders.
• Build and maintain customer relationships, investigate concerns, implement corrective actions, and develop communication plans with internal and external stakeholders to communicate project status.
• Create and maintain project schedules, generating tasks, dependencies, milestones, critical paths, and identifying future planning needs and resource constraints.
• Lead all aspects of project administration, including understanding contract clauses, risk mitigation, validating scope, cost, and schedule, managing compliance, documentation, safety guidelines, pre‑bid validation meetings, internal meetings, and establishing customer expectations.
• Financially manage projects: cash flow, monthly forecasts, cost at completion, expense monitoring, collections support, monthly project reviews, buy‑out plans, and reporting to identify deficiencies.
• Collaborate with technicians, team leads, and other PMs to establish task and schedule requirements, progress communications, plan/specification reviews, and control submittals.
• Oversee subcontractor selection, RFQ process, award, execution, billing, safety, and professional relationships.
• Maintain customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Project Management degree (a plus).
• Combination of degree and/or 7–10 years of experience in HVAC Controls and Project Management.
• Practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with leadership principles are valued for candidates without a 4‑year degree.
• Proficient in resource and manpower planning.
• Experience leading teams with diverse technical skill levels.
• Preferred experience working with building owners.
• Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations.

Annual Base Salary Range: $81,800.00 – $.
