Field Application Engineer - Imaging

Role Overview

This role offers technically‑minded engineers a chance to broaden their system engineering and application knowledge while gaining sales and marketing experience in the image sensors and Time‑of‑Flight (ToF) domain across diverse industries.

• Work closely with customers and their engineering teams, both remotely and on‑site, to secure commitments and win business.
• Support the development and evaluation of camera modules, optical system performance (MTF, lens shading, distortion) and imaging devices.
• Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to align product offerings with end‑customer opportunities.
• Provide hardware troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
• Participate in ST technical conferences and customer training sessions.
• Use competitive knowledge to give feedback to marketing/R&D for new product development.
• Support project management activities.

• Experience in camera module development and optical system performance evaluation.
• Experience in imaging devices and basic optics background.
• Knowledge of microcontrollers and programming experience.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of automotive sector is a plus.
• Experience in project management is a plus.
• Minimum education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and at least 6 years’ experience.

Primary location:
Livonia, MI (remote and on‑site opportunities). Alternate location:
Santa Clara, CA.

Base annual salary range: $117,900 – $147,400 USD (Non‑Bay Area). $132,100 – $165,100 USD (Bay Area).
