Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Field Application Engineer for a direct hire position at a service provider/manufacturer of robotic systems for wastewater infrastructure located in Livonia. Overview Our client is a global supplier of robotic systems used to inspect and repair wastewater pipes. Their North American operations focus on service and repair of these systems. You will be part of a small global team and be a technical authority on all products, applications, and customer-facing technical support activities. The role bridges the gap between customers, service, operations, sales and product development, ensuring that technical issues are effectively resolved, customer feedback is captured and acted upon, and that products continue to meet the evolving needs of the wastewater inspection and rehabilitation market.

You'll work closely with the Vice President of Operations, Product Management, Engineering, Commercial teams and Customers (Dealers, Plumbers, Municipalities). You'll lead technical support activities, develop technical capability across the organization and ensure that customer and field insights are translated into continuous product and process improvements.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for all products across North America.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on complex technical, application and product-related issues.
  • Act as the escalation point for critical customer, dealer and service issues.
  • Build and maintain deep technical expertise for entire product range.
  • Support strategic initiatives and provide technical input to operational and commercial decision-making.
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers and dealers.
  • Provide technical support for key accounts and strategic opportunities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting complex field issues and product applications.
  • Capture, analyze and prioritize technical issues and customer feedback from the field.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Product Management to drive product improvements.
  • Ensure lessons learned from service, production and customer applications are communicated effectively across the business.
  • Support product validation, field trials and customer evaluations.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in new product introduction and product lifecycle management activities.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Improve the technical capability of service, sales and operations personnel.
  • Promote knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Partner with Product Management on product strategy, customer requirements and market insights.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams on product enhancements and future development priorities.
  • Build effective working relationships across business units, globally.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronic, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline), or equivalent industry experience.
  • Significant technical experience within autonomous systems, industrial robotics, engineered products, electromechanical equipment or industrial technology environments.
  • Strong electronic troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.
  • Experience supporting customers and field-based technical applications.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with product development, operations and customer-facing teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, throughout North America and 1-2 yearly trips to Europe
Pluses:
  • Experience with in wastewater, underground infrastructure, pipeline inspection or trenchless technology industries.
  • Experience supporting dealer or distributor networks.
  • Experience in technical training and capability development.
  • Previous leadership or management experience
