Structural Steel Fitter

Peoplelink Staffing Solutions, in partnership with a prominent client in Livonia, MI within the Steel Product Manufacturing industry, is currently recruiting for a Structural Steel Fitter.

• $20 - 25.00/hour based on experience
• 1st Shift: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, Monday–Friday
• Overtime on Saturdays as necessary

• 3+ years of structural steel fitting or related experience required.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
• Proficient in measuring, laying out, fitting, and assembling structural steel components.
• Ability to accurately measure, mark, cut, position, and align steel materials according to specifications.
• Receive work orders; obtain and organize materials; verify that all materials are accurate and comply with job specifications and quality requirements.
• Determine the proper sequence of operations and plan job tasks accordingly.
• Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, saws, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, levels, and other layout equipment.
• Properly position and secure steel components for welding and fabrication.
• Safely operate equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, grinders, saws, and other shop equipment.
• Inspect completed work to ensure proper dimensions, alignment, fit, and quality standards are met.
• Wear properly fitted PPE, including but not limited to gloves, face shields, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and other required safety equipment.
• Work in an efficient, safe, and productive manner.
• Maintain, support, and follow all standards as specified in the Quality Management System.
• Provide support to other employees on essential job functions when required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace and shop floor.
• May be trained on various machines and equipment as needed.
• Must be able and willing to learn new processes and procedures.
• Engage in other related duties and responsibilities as directed by management.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must demonstrate and maintain a courteous and professional attitude.
