The Nursing Education Coordinator cultivates an environment of lifelong learning by supporting the development of effective quality, innovative, creative, and engaging continuing education activities, implementing evidence-based practice innovations, and continuously evaluating learning needs and/or practice changes. Supports a shared leadership philosophy and the professional practice model for patient care services.
Responsibilities (Performance Duties)- Functions as a role model in a clinical specialty and maintains current knowledge and competency in nursing professional and development practice
- Excellent project management skills, able to take projects through to completion
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fostering collaborative relationships with physicians, nurses, healthcare team members and leadership
- Collects data and information related to educational needs and other pertinent situations
- Analyzes issues, trends, and supporting data to determine educational needs of individuals, organizations and communities
- Identifies target audience, purpose, objectives, and outcomes for each learning activity
- Establishes plans describing strategies, alternatives, and resources to achieve outcomes
- Ensures that educational activities are implemented and conducts comprehensive evaluations
- Coordinates educational initiatives and activities
- Employs strategies to promote positive learning and practice environments
- Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes and improves nursing professional practice
- Designs, develops, and evaluates programs for new nurse orientation and ongoing professional education for staff
- Assists in the implementation/in-service of new products and equipment
- Participates in ongoing quality monitoring, policy review, and process improvement related to nursing and development
- Establishes collegial partnerships contributing to professional development of peers and staff
- Serves as a resource to managers and staff for educational needs; can flex work hours as needed
- Considers safety, effectiveness, and cost in relation to professional development activities
- Contributes to the positive image of nursing and enhances the culture of the organization by modeling professional behavior
- Exhibits caring principles as outlined in the professional practice Model of Care
- Present unfamiliar detailed information in a comprehensible way; works with little direction while coordinating with physicians, nursing, and/or committees
- Reads, analyzes, and interprets professional journals and regulatory resources; ability to write reports, policies and procedures
- Ability to make timely and effective decisions and take initiative in ambiguity
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Education
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program; BSN required
- Master’s preferred
- Licensure/Credentials
- Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- Certification in clinical specialty or educational area completed or active…
