Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, controlling, and maintaining quality processes and product requirements for assigned customer programs, including applicable site-specific requirements.

This role will develop and implement inspection procedures and quality controls to evaluate risk, identify deficiencies, and ensure product and process quality. The Quality Engineer will utilize proven problem-solving tools and continuous improvement techniques to resolve quality issues and improve overall performance.

• Develop comprehensive quality plans to ensure program quality objectives and customer requirements are achieved; train affected personnel on applicable quality plan requirements.
• Support compliance with ISO 9001 requirements across assigned sites.
• Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process and develop and maintain program-specific control plans and related documentation.
• Assist with supplier assessment and selection activities and support the resolution of supplier quality issues.
• Support incoming, in-process, and End-of-Line (EOL) inspection and testing activities, including equipment calibration and verification.
• Track and resolve quality issues involving customers and suppliers.
• Manage Material Review Board (MRB) and Return to Vendor (RTV) processes, including product disposition.
• Approve and submit first article and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation in support of supplier and customer program requirements.
• Lead and participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities when process or product quality deficiencies are identified.
• Prepare written and verbal reports, deliver quality presentations, and participate in internal and external meetings as required.
• Support the reporting and tracking of Quality of Service (QOS) metrics for assigned operating groups and customer programs.

• Associate degree in a relevant manufacturing or technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years of related quality experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technically related field.
• American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification.

• Experience with the APQP process, including preparation and submission of PPAP documentation to customers.
• Strong understanding of problem-solving methodologies and quality improvement tools and techniques.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements and effectively communicate them to cross-functional teams.
• Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), including implementation and documentation requirements.
• Ability to plan, control, and assure product and process quality in accordance with quality plans and customer requirements.
• Understanding of the audit process, including planning, preparation, execution, reporting results, and follow-up activities.
• Ability to interact professionally and effectively with technical teams, cross-functional departments, suppliers, and customers.
• Strong computer and PC skills.

• Knowledge of second-stage vehicle conversion and vehicle upfitting.
• Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles and processes.
