Account Manager
Job Summary
Manage existing and new business base for maximum sales and profitability. Identify, quantify, and develop new business opportunities
Responsibility:
* Identify short and annual targets for future customer business opportunities using market intelligence and new contact leads.
* Develop an annual action plan to support business group revenue goals and maintain quarterly revenue forecasts against annual target.
* Identify client needs and provide effective solutions based on Linamar's core business offerings and services.
* Develop a solid understanding and relationship with the various Group business staff to support full understanding of Linamar's overall business capabilities.
* Resolve conflict situations as needed, to ensure the most beneficial application of business opportunities are achieved within the Linamar long term business objectives.
* Maintain continuous personal contact with the customer base for the purpose of obtaining maximum anticipation in the sale of Company products. This includes all customer personnel (engineering, r&d, quality, product development and purchasing) that have influence on purchasing or specifying those products.
* Manage service to the customer in a timely manner.
* Lead sales and business development through customer networking, technical understanding of product and application, and meetings.
* Work closely with the technology, engineering, and quality team to create an unbeatable value proposition for the customer.
* Responsible for continuous update of all customer information including engineering specifications. Establish and maintain files for use in Sales and related activities.
* Keep immediate manager apprised of all business developments, particularly competition, prices, design engineering needs, potential new or modified approaches to design, industry performance requirements, product changes, or other factors that would influence company business decisions.
* Recommend price/contribution from cost estimate information and review with manager prior to submitting quotes and proposals to customers.
* Develop sales forecasts and objectives for the assigned area of responsibility.
* Present ideas that may have an impact on cost reduction, product improvement, new product possibilities, increased sales volume, and new customers.
* Work closely with individual plants; and support customer and plant needs.
* Communicate and coordinate with appropriate Company departments the immediate and future actions to satisfactorily fulfill the Company's commitment to our customers. Participate in or lead meetings to review results, formulate plans, and implement action plans to affect future sales.
Academic/
Educational Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration and min 5-15 years in automotive sales.
Required Skills/Experience
* Proven "top down" selling experience and relationship management with Senior Executives.
* Solid experience in the automotive industry sector.
* Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
* Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
* Ability to present a professional sale approach to helping people achieve personal and positional goals.
* Ability to interpret numerical information for costing and analysis for feasibility to quote on business.
* Ability to develop new and effective methods of increasing sales in a competitive environment.
* Ability to supervise, train, and mentor sales personnel.
* Ability to appropriately handle employee relations and performance issues.
* Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with others in a team atmosphere.
* Excellent customer service and sales skills.
* Excellent communication skills in verbal and written form conversing in financial, technical and contractual issues.
* Confidence and professionalism to interact with customers over the phone and in person.
