Overview

Position:
Experienced technician in the Department of Public Works, full-time, day shift.

Location:

City of Taylor. The role involves repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks and other motor-driven equipment, with emphasis on hydraulic systems, welding, acetylene torch usage, electronic ignitions (all makes), engine and electrical diagnosis, and general use of hand tools. Safety procedures must be followed. Work is performed with minimal direction from supervision and may include other assigned duties. Emergency overtime may be required.

• Repair and maintain automobiles, trucks and other motor-driven equipment.
• Diagnose engine and electrical issues; repair and diagnose hydraulic systems and related components.
• Utilize welding, acetylene torch, and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and policies.
• Work with minimal supervision and take on additional duties as assigned by the Department.
• Be available to work emergency overtime as required.

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Within one (1) year of employment, maintain state certification in diesel and gas engine repair (auto and truck); electrical systems (auto and truck); brakes and braking systems (truck); front end and steering systems (auto and truck).
• Valid driver’s license must be maintained throughout employment.

• Wages and benefits are paid in accordance with the labor agreement between the City of Taylor and Local 1128 AFSCME.
