Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Sole communications link to driver, including, but not limited to, load information, advances, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling, and dissemination of general company news and information.
- Responsible for assigned full board of tractors and drivers, including, but not limited to, effective management for optimum performance in the following categories:
- Ensuring data entry is correct at all times. Coding errors on service failures should be minimal. Fleet Managers are responsible for 99.5% data entry accuracy.
- Responsible for maintaining driver turnover within the ideal range. The ideal range will vary month to month, but preventable turnover should never exceed 60%.
- Utilization, mileage may vary depending on the month. Overall utilization should be 310-326 MPU per day. In cases of dedicated freight, your MPU goal may be adjusted to fit the expectation of that specific business unit.
- On-time service – Service failures should be minimal. It is your responsibility to communicate to the driver the customers’ expectations.
- Overall safety – Hours of service, unsafe driving, and overall CSA scores will affect bonus potential.
- Ensure drivers are current on preventative maintenance on their trucks.
- Update drivers on road conditions and restrictions as communicated by the Safety Department.
- Communicate to HR in a timely manner on drivers' medical conditions or attendance issues.
- Handling driver complaints and ensuring complaints are escalated to the appropriate person or department and handled in a timely manner.
- Work with Load Planners and other Fleet Managers to plan future workload.
- Work with Service and Breakdown departments to adequately maintain equipment and meet service schedules.
- Must be able to think strategically and plan ahead of rapidly changing situations while maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude.
- Must be well organized and engaged with the team members.
- Maintain a positive attitude with coworkers and supervisor, exercising the speed of trust when issues arise.

- 2-year degree in related field
- 3 years of experience in transportation
- Demonstrates decision-making ability with little supervision
- Intermediate user ability for Microsoft Excel
