Position Objective

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned, helping them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Education/Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Bilingual certification preferred.

Experience

Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.

Responsibilities
  • Instructional Strategies
    • Develop and implement lesson plans fulfilling district curriculum and state guidelines.
    • Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for individual student differences.
    • Plan and use appropriate instructional materials, equipment, and technology.
    • Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instruction.
    • Work with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students.
    • Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
    • Plan and assign work to instructional aides/volunteers and oversee completion.
  • Student Growth and Development
    • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
    • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
    • Support the mission of the school district as a positive role model.
  • Classroom Management and Organization
    • Create a learning‑conducive and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
    • Manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
    • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
    • Assist in selecting instructional materials.
    • Compile, maintain, and file required reports, records, and documents.
  • Communication
    • Maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Professional Growth and Development
    • Participate in staff development activities.
    • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
    • Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

    • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

    • Direct the work of assigned instructional aides.
