To plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive instrumental (strings) music program that provides students with activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. To provide leadership and coordination and facilitate the efficient operation of the district music program.
Education/Certification:
Bachelors Degree in Music.
TTAS certified.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of UIL and TEA guidelines in music.
Demonstrated ability to successfully organize, manage, promote and instruct a jr. high school orchestra program.
Performance expertise in strings; fundamental skill in other instruments.
Orchestral conducting skills.
Member of Texas Music Educators Association.
Experience:
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist in the supervision of district wide music staff as appropriate.
Equipment Used:
Use orchestra instruments, computers, keyboards, recording/public address systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used:
Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
