Primary
Purpose:
First and foremost, all employees in LISD will exemplify the Leadership Definition, Competencies and Behaviors. Under the direction of the campus administration, the Student Advocate's primary role is to develop relationships with students, support a positive school culture, and assist with interventions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Monitors students in hallways, cafeteria, and other areas as assigned. Checks for hall passes, enforces student code of conduct.
* Responds to classrooms that request assistance
* Responds to conflict or confrontation between students
* Works with teacher leaders and administration on procedures for assisting with student intervention
* Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, lunches, and other activities
* Record tardiness, truancies, and other related incidents
* Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
* Participates in in-service training programs as assigned
Additional
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Serve on the Response to Intervention (RTI) Team: work with administration, counselors, and teams of teachers to implement a tiered system of interventions; follow through with data collection and reporting
* Participates in training for Restorative Practices and implements the strategies
* Monitor In School Suspension as needed
* Monitor lunch detention and after-school detention as needed
* Monitor student parking lots and enforce parking rules
* Connect students to assistance from Guidance Counselor, CCMR Advisory, Assistant Principal, Nurse, etc.
* Perform other job-related duties as may be designated by the school principal or designee

Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment:
Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
