Position Objective

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned, encouraging intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Empower students to develop competencies and skills for successful citizenship.

Education & Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the assigned subject and level.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
Leadership Skills
  • Build a culture of equity, removing barriers for students of all backgrounds.
  • Accountable for results, communicating high expectations and owning outcomes.
  • Open communicator, actively seeking and applying continuous feedback.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Requirements
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.

Experience

Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.

Responsibilities Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum and state standards.
  • Use instructional strategies, activities, materials, technology tailored to diverse learning styles.
  • Assess student learning styles, incorporate results into planning.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to adapt curricula for students with IEPs.
  • Work with staff to set instructional goals and methods per district requirements.
  • Plan, assign, and supervise work of instructional aides and volunteers.
Student Growth & Development
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model and endorse district mission.
Classroom Management & Organization
  • Create a conducive learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain student behavior per Student Code of Conduct.
  • Protect students, equipment, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials.
  • Compile, maintain, and file required reports and records.
Communication
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Professional Growth & Development
  • Participate in staff development activities.
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Attend faculty meetings and staff committees as required.
Other Expectations
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct the work of assigned instructional aides.

Demands & Conditions
  • Tools/Equipment: Personal computer, standard instructional equipment.
  • Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending, twisting.
