The Foundation Drill Operator is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Fentress, TX. This position is responsible for safely operating foundation drilling rigs and related equipment to construct drilled shafts and other deep foundation elements for commercial, industrial, and heavy civil projects. Day‑to‑day tasks include reading and interpreting project plans, setting up and inspecting equipment, monitoring drilling parameters, coordinating with field supervisors and crews, and maintaining accurate logs of work performed.
The operator will perform routine equipment maintenance, identify and report mechanical issues, and help ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures. The role also involves working outdoors in varying conditions, assisting with rig mobilization and demobilization, mechanical repairs, and contributing to a collaborative, safety‑focused jobsite environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy drilling equipment and related tools safely and efficiently, including foundation drilling rigs and auxiliary equipment.
- Experience reading construction drawings, understanding project specifications, and following layout and depth requirements for drilled foundations.
- Knowledge of construction site safety practices, OSHA regulations, and safe rigging, lifting, and material handling procedures.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for performing routine equipment inspections, troubleshooting minor issues, and communicating maintenance needs.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, stand for extended periods, and lift moderate weights as part of daily operations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with supervisors, crew members, and other trades on active jobsites.
- Reliable work ethic, punctuality, and commitment to following company policies and continuous improvement practices.
- Previous experience in foundation drilling, heavy civil construction, or related trades preferred; CDL and/or equipment operator certifications are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development required.
