Junior High Paraprofessional
The Junior High Paraprofessional plays a vital role in supporting academic achievement by supporting small group instruction and providing targeted interventions. Under the guidance of the special education teacher, this individual helps bridge learning gaps in all subject areas, ensuring all students have the support needed to succeed in the junior high environment.
Position Details:
The paraprofessional works at Kelvin Grove School Monday through Friday from 8:15 - 3:25pm for the 26-27 school year. (

Essential Job Functions:
- Instructional Support and Facilitation Support 1 student with social emotional interventions for 1/4 of the school day.
- Assist with small instructional groups in reading, writing, and mathematics, science and social studies using teacher-provided lesson plans and materials.
- Provide differentiated support to students during independent work time to reinforce concepts taught during whole-group instruction.
- Attend any specials as needed to support students.
- Assist in the administration of classroom assessments and progress monitoring tools.
- Help students develop organizational and study skills essential for the transition to high school.
Instructional & Classroom Support:
- Facilitate the student's participation in all learning activities and social interactions, adapting materials or presenting instruction under the direction of the special education teacher or the general education teacher.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
- Reinforce academic and developmental goals.
- Assist with collecting and recording data on the student's progress.
- Implement classroom management strategies consistent with the teacher's established routines.
- Help students transition smoothly between activities and environments.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Communicate regularly with 6th-8th grade teams regarding student progress, challenges, and successes.
- Maintain accurate records of student data and intervention minutes as required.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student records and performance.
Additional Duties:
- Assist classroom staff or building administration, as needed.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Paraprofessional License (Required, but will assist candidate in obtaining licensure if needed)
- Licensure:
Valid Illinois Paraprofessional License (Required; the district will assist qualified candidates in obtaining licensure if needed). - Experience:
Prior experience working with children in an educational setting (Preferred). - Skills:
Excellent communication skills, and a "team-player" mindset. - Physical:
Ability to move throughout the classroom and building to support student needs effectively. - Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.
- Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, and demonstrate patience, empathy, and consistency.
