Special Education Teacher - Lockport, IL

Empower young learners in Lockport, IL by making an impact as a Special Education Teacher during the  academic year. This contract position runs from August 17, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with the potential for emergency extension through June
7. Youll provide vital instruction to 4th and 5th grade students, helping them reach their academic potential in a supportive environment. Expect to work full-time, from 8:05 AM to 3:25 PM, including a 30-minute duty-free lunch and a dedicated planning period each day. This role may be split between two elementary schools, ensuring a dynamic and engaging workweek.

• Current Special Education Teacher credentials and appropriate state certification.
• Demonstrated experience teaching 4th and 5th grade special education students.
• Strong background in foundational literacy and numeracy.
• Proven expertise in implementing effective academic interventions.
• Comfortable managing a caseload of approximately 12 students, alongside 1 classroom paraprofessional.
• Proficiency in IEP case management, lesson planning, and ensuring compliance with district and state requirements.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

• Deliver engaging, individualized special education instruction in a classroom setting.
• Develop and oversee IEPs, collaborating with families and related service providers.
• Employ targeted interventions to support student growth in literacy and numeracy.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom climate for all learners.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress.
