Reporting to the Quality Manager, this position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving all aspects of G&W’s Quality Program as it relates to production operations. This includes, but is not limited to, shop floor problem-solving, root cause analysis, FMEA, NCR management, control plans, and supplier quality issue resolution.
The role also supports the development and execution of ISO auditing processes, supplier quality initiatives, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities to build capability and support growth.
As a Sr Quality Engineer you will:- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of process control methods to ensure products meet quality standards. Utilize statistical tools such as SPC, capability studies (Cp/Cpk, Pp/Ppk), and Gage R&R to monitor and improve process performance.
- Drive structured problem-solving efforts across the organization by leading root cause analysis (RCA), 8D, and 5 Why investigations. Ensure timely implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage and oversee Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including containment actions, disposition, and trend analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Analyze first pass yield (FPY) and process performance data to identify failure trends and implement corrective actions to improve overall product quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Supplier Quality, and Purchasing teams to resolve quality issues, drive permanent corrective actions, and ensure alignment on corrective actions.
- Participate in design reviews and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and validation activities to ensure quality is built into product designs and processes.
- Conduct and support process audits across manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with procedures, accuracy of documentation, and adherence to workmanship standards.
- Lead and support internal audits in compliance with ISO 9001 standards, as well as external audits. Support audit preparation, execution, and follow-up actions.
- Monitor, analyze, and report key quality metrics to management, including trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Provide clear communication and visibility of quality performance.
- Support Quality Improvement Team (QIT) initiatives and Management Review processes by providing data, insights, and recommendations.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional, high-impact projects focused on systemic quality improvements and operational excellence.
- Ensure effective implementation and sustainment of quality systems, tools, and best practices across the organization.
- Perform other duties as required to support quality objectives and business needs.
- A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- 5 – 10 years’ experience
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
- Project management and project leadership experience preferred – planning, communications, scheduling, and risk management ability to influence and expedite progress on issues.
- Proven experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
- Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Proficient in using quality management software and tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Certification in quality engineering (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and advanced quality planning (AQP).
- Familiarity with industry-specific quality standards and regulations
- Plant operations or issue resolution experience preferred.
- Travel up to 10%.
