OverviewA rapidly growing food import organization is seeking a Labeling Compliance Specialist to support regulatory initiatives across a diverse portfolio of international food products. This high‑impact role focuses on ensuring product labels meet FDA, USDA, and state regulatory requirements while partnering cross‑functionally with internal teams and global suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Review and update product labels to ensure compliance with FDA (21 CFR), USDA, and state regulations
- Verify ingredient statements, allergen declarations, and required disclosures
- Manage regulatory label updates tied to ingredient changes and evolving compliance requirements
- Conduct high‑volume label evaluations across legacy and newly introduced products
- Communicate with domestic and international suppliers to obtain and validate documentation
- Collaborate with QA, Marketing, and Procurement teams to align labeling requirements
- Identify compliance gaps, assess risk, and escalate issues when necessary
- Support SOP development and continuous improvement of labeling processes
- Ensure marketing claims and product messaging align with regulatory standards
- Assist with supplier compliance and onboarding related to labeling requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field
- 3+ years of experience with FDA and USDA labeling regulations
- Strong knowledge of food labeling compliance (21 CFR preferred)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- High attention to detail
- Experience with systems such as Trace Gains or Genesis R&D
- Background working with imported food products or global suppliers
- Familiarity with certifications (Organic, Non‑GMO, Halal, Kosher)
- FSVP, PCQI, or HACCP certification
- Monday–Friday
- Early shift (6:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
