Position: Dock Lead (Sit-Down Forklift) - 2nd shift

Shift Schedule

Monday thru Friday 4:00 pm – 12:30 am

Pay

Hourly: $21.00 plus a $1.00 shift differential ($22.00 total).
Effective April 6, all new Material Handlers and Material Handler Leads will participate in a four‑step wage progression program, receiving an automatic $0.50 hourly increase every 90 days over a one‑year period.

Job Purpose

Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping; ensure all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly; perform duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving activities. Ensure that Material Handlers operate forklift and walkie‑rigs safely at all times, following all safety policies and procedures.
This position reports to the shift supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Properly receive, unload, move, and tag incoming parts and equipment.
  • Use WMS and have knowledge of QMS and lean warehousing practices.
  • Operate material handling equipment and use an RF scanner.
  • Pull and stage parts for production and complete requisitions for parts shortages.
  • Collect and properly package inventory and purchased items needing shipment.
  • Comply with the company’s safety policies while using lifting devices (forklifts and scissor lifts) and maintain cleaning standards.
  • Learn day‑to‑day warehouse operations.
  • Verify orders are complete and accurate.
  • Pick each customer order in the most effective manner possible to minimize shipping costs and insure product safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and work with limited supervision.
  • Understand computers and handheld RF equipment.
  • Work as part of a team and lead when required.
  • Read, write, and understand English.
  • Attention to detail and quality are mandatory.
  • Have good communication, problem‑resolution, and people skills.
  • Be flexible for overtime and shift coverage.
  • Basic PC skills helpful.
  • Major experience on sit‑down forklifts and walkie‑rigs.
  • Build and break pallets to fill independent orders.
  • Experience in cross‑docking freight processes.
  • Work in a fast‑paced warehouse environment.
Qualifications
  • 2–4 years in a warehouse environment.
  • Strong attendance record.
  • 6 months – 1 year of sit‑down forklift experience (stand‑up reach/walkie rider a plus).
  • 8 months – 1 year of past lead experience.
Language Skills Sets
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Communicate, read, write, and speak English fluently.
Mathematical Skills
  • Perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Solve practical problems and handle situations with limited standardization.
  • Interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
  • Determine root cause and corrective action for problems.
Computer Skills
  • Use business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
Physical Demands
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Stands for full shift (8 hours) and may work beyond continuous 8‑hour periods.
  • Must be in sound physical health as verified by a licensed physician with no substance use.
Work Environment
  • Employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • Noise levels range from quiet to moderately loud.
