As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve in a partner public school to support students' academic and social emotional growth. Working full time on a diverse Ameri Corps team, you'll provide small group and one on one tutoring, mentor students, support positive behavior, and help create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment. You'll collaborate with teachers, track student progress, and lead enrichment or after school activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support in core subjects
  • Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and positive school engagement
  • Collaborate with teachers to align classroom support with learning goals
  • Track and report student progress using basic data tools
  • Support classroom management and a positive learning environment
  • Assist with planning and leading after-school or enrichment programs
  • Communicate with school staff and City Year team members regularly
  • Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and leadership development
  • Promote an inclusive, respectful, and equity-focused school culture
  • Support school-wide events and initiatives that improve student success
