Summary

Small Craft Operator, WG‑5786‑9 – Lodi, California.

• Operate and navigate powered vessels (inboard, outboard, I/O) including prop boats, jet boats, 3‑13 m aluminum vessels; facilitate biological sampling in the San Francisco Estuary.
• Maintain, service, track and perform minor repairs on vessels, engines, drive systems, trailers and sampling gear.
• Ensure safety protocols on board, assist in training vessel operators and other personnel.
• Load/unload cargo from small craft and launch vessels.
• Support fish monitoring and conservation projects.
• Work schedule:
  
  full‑time (Mon‑Fri), with regular overtime and occasional weekend work; approximately 80% field work, 20% shop‑based tasks.

None required; no substitution of education for experience.

• Proof of U.S. citizenship.
• Background investigation and favorable adjudication.
• Male applicants born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Direct Deposit participation required; must pass E‑Verify.
• Pass pre‑employment and random drug testing.
• Valid driver’s license maintained throughout employment.
• USFWS approved Forklift Operator Certification.
• USFWS approved Motorboat Operator Certification (including swimming in ponds, lakes, moving water, and/or coastal aquatic environments).
• One‑year probationary period may apply.
