Aboutthe Role
The Dietary Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring that residents receive nutritious and well-balanced meals tailored to their dietary needs. This position involves overseeing the daily operations of the dietary department, including meal preparation, service, and compliance with health regulations. The supervisor will work closely with kitchen staff to develop menus that meet the nutritional requirements of residents while also considering their preferences.
Additionally, this role includes training and mentoring dietary assistants to maintain high standards of food safety and quality. Ultimately, the Dietary Assistant Supervisor contributes to the overall well-being and satisfaction of residents through effective management of dietary services.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of dietary assistants and kitchen staff.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and dietary guidelines.
- Assist in the planning and preparation of menus that meet the nutritional needs of residents.
- Conduct training sessions for new staff on food handling and safety procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
- The required skills for this position include strong leadership abilities, which are essential for supervising staff and ensuring efficient operations in the dietary department. Attention to detail is crucial for maintaining compliance with food safety regulations and for monitoring the quality of meals served. Effective communication skills are necessary for training staff and collaborating with other departments to meet residents' dietary needs.
Additionally, organizational skills are important for managing inventory and planning menus that align with nutritional guidelines. Preferred skills, such as knowledge of dietary management software, can enhance the efficiency of meal planning and tracking resident preferences.
- Certification in food service management or dietary supervision.
Demonstrated experience in dietary management within a healthcare setting, preferably in a skilled nursing facility.
Comprehensive knowledge of nutrition, dietary guidelines, and food service regulations.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and foster staff development.
Superior organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, enabling effective management of multiple tasks.
Proficiency in utilizing dietary software and food service systems for menu planning and inventory control.
Outstanding communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
