Job SummaryThe Systems Engineer oversees and controls all aspects of bank system resources, including servers, workstations, laptops, and network-connected devices. Responsibilities include planning, designing, controlling, and managing all systems connected to the bank’s internal network; coordinating third‑party connections through external firewalls; installing and supporting operating systems; managing system control and security procedures; troubleshooting system problems; and providing second and third‑level end‑user support.
Controland Security‑Related Responsibilities
- Windows Software Update/Patching – Download, test, and distribute software patches and OS updates.
- System/Network Backups – Back‑up all sensitive or critical information.
- ISP&P Adherence – Ensure all system policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures are observed.
- Vulnerability Scanning – Scan network‑connected devices for vulnerabilities, remediate issues, and apply best‑practice configurations.
- NAC Infrastructure Management – Design, install, configure, implement, and maintain network access control infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities System and Network Administration
- Design, configure, maintain, and manage security infrastructure for local and wide area networks.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley Act (SOX) internal controls.
- Implement and maintain remote access servers, domain servers, firewalls, and other network devices.
- Perform maintenance on servers, domain configurations, files, and databases.
- Work with the Network team to integrate voice, data, and video applications.
- Recommend and evaluate new hardware, software, and communication products.
- Maintain technical documentation library.
- Provide advanced diagnostics for desktop devices.
- Assist in vendor selection, procurement, and contract monitoring.
- Configure and optimize servers, workstations, and network devices for performance and reliability.
- Keep current on IT system developments.
- Manage patch management solutions for all networked devices and applications.
- Maintain security plans for network‑connected devices.
- Work with vendors to set up and maintain the bank’s public website.
- Set up, maintain, and secure internal bank websites.
- Install, test, implement, and maintain Microsoft IIS.
- Maintain and modify web‑based applications (e.g., Help Desk, FSR, Change Control).
- Design, develop, and implement internal web applications.
- Set up, test, maintain, and secure internal Microsoft SQL databases.
- Create and maintain maintenance routines for bank SQL databases.
- Monitor SQL database performance and proactively resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot system problems.
- Set up and test new configurations.
- Provide security evidence for law enforcement as needed.
- Provide requested audit materials and accurate responses.
- Remediate audit findings.
- Participate in audit meetings.
- Manage technical support.
- Work with the Network team to isolate ATMs.
- Ensure timely ATM transaction flow.
- Patch and upgrade ATM transaction processing servers.
- Upgrade ATMs to proper application levels.
- Provide guidance or assistance to other IT team members.
- Lead or participate in special projects with bank management.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (Computer Science, MIS, Information Security, or related field).
- Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) required; MCSE or additional certifications preferred.
