Job Summary
The Bakery 2nd is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bakery, ensuring the quality of baked goods, maintaining high hygiene standards, and managing a team of bakers. This role involves crafting and baking delicious breads, pastries, and desserts while ensuring quality and consistency.
Essential Functions of the Position- Supervise and manage the bakery team, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient production.
- Prepare doughs, batters, and fillings according to established recipes and techniques.
- Weigh and measure ingredients precisely to ensure consistency in product quality.
- Operate and maintain baking equipment, including mixers, ovens, and proofing chambers.
- Shape, mold, and decorate dough to create a variety of breads, pastries, and desserts.
- Monitor the baking process to ensure products are baked to perfection and meet desired standards.
- Coordinate with the bakery lead to determine baking priorities and production schedules.
- Assist in inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels of ingredients and supplies.
- Receive, validate, and store merchandise and ingredient deliveries.
- Follow strict sanitation and food safety guidelines to maintain a clean and hygienic baking environment.
- Train and mentor new bakery staff, ensuring they understand and follow established procedures.
- Handle customer inquiries and special orders, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular quality checks and implement improvements as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Understanding basic baking processes and techniques, including preparing dough, batters, and baked goods.
- Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to ensure food safety.
- Familiarity with different types of bakery products, ingredients, and recipes.
- Ability to bake various goods, from breads to pastries, following recipes and adjusting as necessary.
- Precision in measuring ingredients, following recipes, and ensuring the quality and appearance of baked goods.

Stand and walk for extended periods during typical 8‑hour shifts; lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally; perform repetitive motions such as kneading dough, mixing ingredients, and operating bakery machinery; regularly bend, stoop, and reach to access ingredients, place items in ovens, and retrieve baked goods from shelves; maintain good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity for tasks requiring precise movements such as decorating pastries, slicing bread, and packaging products;
work in a hot environment due to ovens and other baking equipment; tolerate variations in temperature and handle hot items safely; use good vision to ensure the quality and appearance of baked goods, read labels and recipes, and operate machinery safely; maintain clear communication with customers and team members; move quickly and efficiently to assist customers and manage workload; maintain physical stamina to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Vary, with availability required on weekends, evenings, and holidays; typically 8‑hour shifts for full‑time employees.
