Research and Instruction Librarian

Felician University, the Franciscan University of New Jersey, is offering an exciting opportunity for an outgoing, detail-oriented, and student-centric professional to serve as the temporary Research and Instruction Librarian for the University Library. The Research and Instruction Librarian supports a collegial environment with the central goals of service, instruction, and outreach. S/he supports the information-seeking, learning, and knowledge needs of Felician University, and is responsible for the collection and analysis of reference and operations data for Felician University Libraries.

ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library and/or information science preferred, second Master’s degree preferred

Qualifications:

Thorough understanding of the structure and content of information resources in various formats; teaching experience and strong presentation skills, preferably in a university setting; physical ability to lift boxes weighing up to 25 pounds; demonstrated reference and research skills in face-to-face and online formats; demonstrated teaching abilities, in both formal and informal venues; strong organizational skills; sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail applications;

demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment; familiarity with web-based social-media tools; well-developed interpersonal skills complemented by a predisposition to assist others; ability and willingness to work weekend and evening hours as needed to provide instruction; and/or reference services; willingness to support and uphold the University’s Catholic/Franciscan tradition and mission.
