Accounting Assistant

Overview

The P-Card Office within the Controller’s Office is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional to join our team. This is a full-time, on-site desk position that offers stability and the chance to make a meaningful impact. If you enjoy working with numbers, bookkeeping, and accounting tasks—and you find satisfaction in accuracy and organization—this role may be a great fit for you. In this position, you will support the daily operations of the department by processing card requests, providing excellent customer service, and assisting with a variety of p-card functions.

• Maintain account changes, limit increases and other card functions according to University Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain cardholder account information in external bank system.
• Process payments from the university’s e-procurement system (USU EZ-BUY) on central account p-card.
• Provide front-line customer service to students, faculty, and staff at the counter and by phone.
• Answer and direct multiple telephone lines in a professional and courteous manner.
• Perform other p-card or accounts payable–related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Two years of relevant experience or an associate degree.
• Proficiency working in multiple computer programs simultaneously (Windows, Excel, web browsers).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with USU’s Banner Finance System.
• Bookkeeping or accounting-related experience, or an associate’s degree/certification in business or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of p-card processes and practices.
• Knowledge of university travel policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of accounts payable processes and practices.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
