Join TEAM Logan for the school year! Logan City School District is seeking an Early Literacy Teacher Specialist to support an innovative partnership with the Center for the School of the Future focused on improving early literacy outcomes for students across Logan City School District.
This position will work collaboratively with teachers, instructional coaches, principals, and district leaders to support the implementation, refinement, and scaling of highly effective early literacy instructional practices aligned to the science of reading.
This is a grant‑funded position contingent upon continued funding.
Job SummaryThe Early Literacy Teacher Specialist supports district wide early literacy improvement efforts through collaboration, classroom support, instructional observation, professional learning, implementation support, and data‑informed instructional refinement. The specialist will work closely with participating first‑grade teams, instructional coaches, school administrators, district leaders, and the Center for the School of the Future to identify and strengthen instructional practices that produce strong student outcomes.
The position is designed to support continuous improvement in literacy instruction while helping develop scalable systems and practices that can improve student outcomes across Logan City School District.
Applicants must hold a current Utah Educator License with an Elementary Education license area.
Essential Functions- Collaborates with teachers, instructional coaches, principals, district leaders, and university partners to support early literacy improvement efforts across participating schools.
- Supports the implementation, refinement, and scaling of evidence‑based literacy instructional practices aligned to the science of reading.
- Participates in classroom observations, instructional walkthroughs, and implementation support cycles for the purpose of strengthening instructional effectiveness and student outcomes.
- Assists in identifying instructional routines, systems, and practices that demonstrate strong student outcomes.
- Collaboratively supports the refinement, streamlining, replacement, or removal of instructional practices that are not producing desired student outcomes.
- Facilitates and supports professional learning opportunities related to early literacy instruction and implementation practices.
- Assists teachers and instructional teams in analyzing student literacy data to inform instructional decision making.
- Collaborates with district and school leadership teams to support implementation fidelity and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participates in planning meetings, leadership meetings, and collaborative problem‑solving sessions with district staff and university partners.
- Supports the development and organization of instructional resources, materials, and implementation supports for participating schools and teachers.
- Maintains records, reports, and documentation related to project implementation, instructional support, and student outcome monitoring.
- Communicates effectively with teachers, administrators, parents, and community partners regarding literacy initiatives and instructional support efforts.
- Supports a positive, collaborative, and solutions‑oriented professional culture focused on improving student outcomes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of three years experience teaching elementary literacy, preferably in K‑3 settings.
- Knowledge of the science of reading instructional practices.
- Experience supporting adult learning, coaching, facilitation, or professional learning communities preferred.
- Experience in analyzing student assessment data to inform instruction preferred.
- Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple schools and teams.
