Position Overview

The Behavior Specialist supports the instructional program by assisting school teams in implementing behavioral support plans, collecting and analyzing behavioral data, and providing support services designed to promote positive behavioral outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist school teams in developing and implementing behavioral support plans to meet district and state requirements.
  • Provide support for programs and services designed for students demonstrating behavioral challenges.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze behavioral data for assigned students to monitor progress and support intervention planning.
  • Create instructional materials and behavioral supports designed to help students reach behavioral and academic goals.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and committees related to behavioral interventions and student support services.
  • Assist with training and workshops related to positive behavior instruction and strategies for working with at‑risk students.
  • Provide information and referrals for families and students when appropriate.
  • Support the implementation of behavioral intervention strategies within classroom environments.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to behavioral interventions and student progress.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements – Minimum Qualifications
Skills
  • Analyzing behavioral data and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Applying conflict resolution and de‑escalation strategies.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge
  • Behavioral intervention strategies and applicable policies.
  • Age‑appropriate student behaviors and developmental practices.
  • Issues related to at‑risk students.
  • Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic computer software systems.
Abilities
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and student needs.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Responsibility

Works under limited supervision following established procedures while supporting behavioral intervention programs and assisting school teams with student behavior plans.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in school environments and may require standing, walking, and interacting with students in classroom and school settings.

High school diploma or equivalent.
