Academic Advising Assistant
The S.J. and Jessie
E. Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking a part-time Academic Advising Assistant to join our student services team. This position will advise undergraduate students in the S.J. and Jessie
E. Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. This is a great opportunity to make a direct impact on students' academic and personal success while working in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
The selected candidate will advise students majoring in:
- Engineering Technology AAS
- Engineering Technology BS
- Small Business Management AAS
- Associate of Business AB
- Advise undergraduate students on academic requirements, course planning, and progress toward graduation.
- Support students in clarifying and achieving their educational and career goals, including preparation for graduate school and employment.
- Provide accurate information on general education, major, and minor requirements, as well as university policies and procedures.
- Track and monitor student progress, communicate academic standing, and intervene when necessary to promote retention and success.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and the S.J. and Jessie
E. Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Student Services office to support student success, retention, and engagement. - Refer students to appropriate university resources for academic and personal support.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Recommend students for awards, scholarships, and other recognition opportunities.
- Participate in college and university recruitment events, orientation, graduation and other student-centered activities.
- Provide excellent customer service and act as a student advocate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A student-focused approach and enthusiasm for working with diverse learners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn university systems (Banner, Degree Works, Navigate, Outlook, etc.).
- Knowledge of student development, academic planning, and retention strategies.
- Experience with advising, mentoring, or teaching students.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Advertised SalaryMinimum $20/hour
ADAEmployees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
